Temporary Local Rules – see notice board in front of golf shop

Local rules are on the back of the scorecard

Note- as of January 1 2019 the new local rule for the 11th hole is as follows;

November 2019 New Local Rule- 11th hole- 12th fairway

In playing the 11th hole, any ball that finishes on the closely mown area of
the 12th (fairway) is deemed to be in a Penalty Area- no play zone. Players
must take relief under the rule “17.1d” for a penalty of 1 shot.

The rule applies to all shots whilst playing the 11th hole (not just tee
shots) whether they be intentional or accidental in which the ball comes to rest on the mown area of the 12th Fairway.

Due to safety concerns of golfers teeing off from the 11th down the 12th hole, a local rule takes effect from Saturday the 16th of November.

Relief must be taken as per below.

For very long hitters we expect that all golfers act in a safe manner and consider the safety of other players at all times. Any member who deems to play in a manner that risks other members will be dealt with under the Clubs By-Laws. Playing restrictions may apply to those who hit past the 12th fairway in a deliberate manner to improve their angle to the 11th green.

Signage will be placed on the 11th tee- however we expect members to become aware of the rule via email notifications and notices on the Local Rules Board outside the Golfshop.

The Medway Golf Committee thank Golf Australia for their expertise in finding a solution to this issue.
